Anti-lock (ABS) Brake Systems were originally developed for aircrafts for rapid braking. However, they are now commonplace in the auto industry. ABS uses computer controlled valves to limit the pressure delivered to each slave cylinder. This prevents a wheel from locking up and allows the driver to maintain greater control while panic braking.
